David Byrne dazzles with spectacular show Every artist has a unique way of unwinding before a performance. For former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, preparing for a show involves a quick spin around town on his bicycle. On Tuesday Byrne was spotted cruising along Rivers and Montague avenues as he prepared for the night's show at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. The ride must have agreed with Byrne, because the artist treated a sold-out audience to a spectacular show. Focusing mostly on the music he had written with Brian Eno, Byrne treated fans to familiar hits with a twist, as well as a selection of new songs from his most recent release, "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today." Known for his wildly original stage performances, Byrne didn't disappoint. He and his band took to the stage dressed in blinding white outfits. During the show the band used office chairs, ballet tutus and a trio of talented dancers to illustrate the music. Byrne kicked things off with "Strange Overtones," a tune from the new album, and it wasn't long before the audience was up and dancing in the aisles to the primitive beat of the Heads' "I Zimbra." Later in the set Byrne unleashed other Heads favorites, including "Once in a Lifetime," which found his dancers vaulting over each other's shoulders. Byrne's band was top-notch, but it was the dancers who gave the show an extra dimension.
